Fue uno de los restaurantes pioneros en servir tapas en Barcelona.  El tipo de gente es mayoritariamente turista, familiar y de negocios, de entre 30-40 años. La decoración es bastante simple. Hay mucho espacio y una buena iluminación. El ambiente es tranquilo, aunque cuando va llegando gente el estrés es palpable.

It was one of the pioneers restaurants in serving tapas in Barcelona. The kind of people is mostly tourists, family and business people, between 30-40 years. The decoration is quite simple. Plenty of space and good lighting. The atmosphere is quiet, although at some point the stress is palpable.

EL SERVICIO / SERVICE

El servicio fue bastante rápido y cordial. Enseguida nos sentaron en una mesa y pidieron qué queríamos. Hay bastantes camareros y el movimiento en el restaurante es constante.

The service was very fast and friendly. We were promptly seated at a table and asked what we wanted. There are enough waiters and in the restaurant movement is constant.

EL MENÚ/MENU

Como la mayoría de restaurantes de tapas hay gran variedad de platos donde escoger, todos con su foto para que puedas ver qué es antes de pedirlo. Pedimos varias tapas para compartir y todos íbamos comiendo de los diferentes platos. Las rabas estaban bastante buenas, un poco duras para mi gusto.

Like most tapas restaurants there are a variety of dishes to choose from, all with his picture so you can see what is before ordering. We ordered several tapas to share and we were all eating from the dishes. The squid rings were pretty good, a little hard for my taste.

RABAS

La ensalada visualmente dejaba bastante que desear, y el sabor tampoco era una exquisitez. Creo que yo en casa podría preparar una ensalada mejor con solo lechuga y tomate.

The salad was not the best visually, and the taste was not exquisite. At home I think I could prepare a better salad with just lettuce and tomato.

SALAD

El pulpo estaba muy bueno, pero por el precio creo que había poca cantidad, aunque siempre es bastante caro.

The octopus was very good, but for the price I think there was a small amount, but usually  it is always quite expensive.

PULPO A LA GALLEGA

Las patatas bravas estaban lejos de parecerse a unas patatas bravas auténticas, estaban bastante blandas y la salsa tenía sabor a chistorra. No digo que fueran malas pero no es lo que me esperaba.

The patatas bravas were far from resembling authentic patatas bravas, they were quite soft and the sauce tasted like sausage. I'm not saying they were bad but not what I expected.

PATATAS BRAVAS

Las brochetas fueron de lo mejor. Estaban en su punto y su sabor muy bueno.

The skewers were the best. Were ripe and very good taste.

BROCHETAS DE CARNE

No puedo decir lo mismo de los huevos “estrellats”, que aunque correctos, quedan lejos de los típicos huevos donde la yema se deshace entre las patatas y el jamón.

I can not say the same for the eggs "estrellats", although they were correct, they are far from the usual eggs where the yolk is rolled between the potatoes and ham.

De postre pedímos Tiramisu, era más bonito que bueno ya que el sabor era bastante neutro.

For dessert we ordered Tiramisu, was nicer than good because the flavor was fairly neutral.

TIRAMISU

Sin duda una de las mejores tapas que pedimos fue el pastel, de textura suave y sabor dulce. Además la combinación con la mermelada es el toque perfecto para completar el postre.

The best tapa was the Cheesecake, with soft texture and sweet flavor. Also the combination with jam is the perfect touch to complete the dessert.

PASTEL DE QUESO CON MERMELADA DE ARANDANOS

El yogur me sorprendió, sobre todo por la presentación, bastante correcta y original. El sabor bueno.

Yogurt surprised me, especially the presentation, quite correct and original. The taste good.

YOGUR CON SALSA DE MANGO

Todos los platos en general pueden mejorar la presentación y más cuando las raciones son pequeñas y pides variedad, su sabor es bastante bueno en la mayoría de tapas.   El precio final dependerá de lo que comas, pero en general está bastante bien. Te puede salir por menos de 20€. Es un típico restaurante de tapas, bueno para comer pero no para recomendar ni ir expresamente.  Un sitio ideal para ir turistas o después de alguna reunión de negocios.

All dishes can enhance the overall presentation especially when the portions are small and ask variety, it tastes pretty good in most tapas. The final price will depend on what you eat, but generally is pretty good. You can eat for less than 20 €. It is a typical tapas restaurant, good to eat but not to recommend or go on purpose. An ideal place to go with tourists or after a business meeting.

Hay dos restaurantes en Barcelona de Europa Mundo, éste, de la calle numància y otro en la calle Europa, del cual proviene el nombre original. El local es pequeño, con los espacios bien aprovechados pero sin tener que comer con la mesa de al lado. La decoración es japonesa, pero muy sencilla. Hay zona de terraza y zona interior.

There are two restaurants in Barcelona with the name Europa Mundo, this one is located in  Numancia street and the other one in Europe street, which gave the original name to the restaurant. The place is small and the tables fits perfectly. The decoration is Japanese, but very simple. This restaurant has also a terrace.

EL SERVICIO / SERVICE

Llegamos a la hora que ellos cenaban, aunque tampoco era demasiado pronto, por lo que nos hicieron esperar unos 5 minutos antes de traernos la carta. El servicio una vez terminaron la cena fue bastante correcto. Lo bueno que tiene es que puedes elegir entre menú buffet que son 14,5€, menú degustación que son 18€  o menú noche que son 9,8€, el menú noche incluye 4 platos a elegir, más que suficientes para quedar bien.

We arrived at the time they were having dinner, but it was not that early, so we did have to wait about 5 minutes. The service once they ended their dinner was quite correct. The good thing is that you can choose from buffet menu that is  14.5€ , a tasting menu that is 18 € or night menu that is € 9.8, the night menu  includes 4 dishes  to choose.

EL MENÚ/MENU

Nosotros éramos 4 y elegimos el menú de 9,8€, al principio creí que quedaría con hambre pero no. La lista de platos que escoger es bastante extensa, es un poco complicado escoger porque quieres probar de todo y hay muchas cosas. Los platos te los van trayendo a medida que los tienen preparados. Pongo algunos de los platos. Para poder probar más variedad pedimos sushi y makis variado, dónde ponen diferentes opciones. Estaban todos bastante buenos.

We were 4 and we chose the € 9.8 menu, at first I thought it would not be enought but it did. The list of dishes to choose from is quite extensive, it is a little difficult to choose because you want to try everything and there are many things. The dishes are served as soon as they are ready. I put some of the dishes. To try more variety we ordered sushi and maki varied. They were all pretty good.

MAKIS Y SUSHI VARIADO

Otro típico plato que a mí me encanta son los fideos fritos. No son los mejores que he probado pero estaban bastante bien.

Another typical dish that I love is the fried noodles. This were not the best I've tried but they were pretty good.

YAKISOBA

El pollo rebozado con almendras me recordó más a un plato chino que japonés, por el nombre más que nada. La salsa que lo acompañaba estaba riquísima y el pollo crujiente.

Almond Crusted Chicken reminded me more of a Chinese dish rather than a Japanese one. The sauce that accompanied it was delicious and crispy chicken too.

POLLO REBOZADO CON ALMENDRAS

El california maki también es un típico para pedir. Es bastante suave y agradable.

The california maki is also typical dish I usually ask for. It is quite mild and pleasant.

CALIFORNIA MAKI

Las verduras tempura con salsa de soja también estaban buenas, no tienen mucho secreto pero dan resultado a nivel gustativo.

The vegetable tempura with soy sauce were also good, but this dish does not have much secret.

TEMPURA DE VERDURAS

Por la misma razón que pedimos sushi y makis variados también lo hicimos solo con sushi.

For the same reason we ordered sushi and maki we also ordered varied sushi.

SUSHI  VARIADO

Por último, salmón con salsa de soja. Siempre que pruebo algo con salsa de soja, ya sea pescado o carne me resulta una muy buena combinación, en éste caso también.

Finally, salmon with soy sauce. Whenever I try something with soy sauce, either is fish or meat, I find it as a very good combination, in this case too.

SALMÓN CON SALSA DE SOJA

Uno de los puntos flojos del restaurante fueron los postres. Eran todos industriales a la carta de los que vienen con foto  y bastante caros, por lo que no pedimos nada. El precio final dependerá de lo que elijas pero creo que no supero los 12€ con la bebida. El tipo de gente es mayoritariamente familiar o de parejas. Es un típico restaurante que está bien de precio para comer algo japonés pero que no debes ir si lo que buscas es buena calidad gastronómica.

One of the weaknesses of the restaurant was the desserts. They were all industrial, the ones that come with a photo and that are quite expensive, so we did not order anything. The final price will depend on what you choose, in our case it did not exceed the 12 € with drink included. The people are mostly families or couples. It is a typical restaurant that is well priced to eat something Japanese but you should not go if you're looking for high quality food.

Es un restaurante relativamente nuevo (2009). Desde fuera no llama mucho la atención y las mesas quedan relativamente escondidas para cualquier persona que circule a pie. Antes de conocer éste restaurante creía que nunca había nadie, ya que las 2 mesas que se ven desde fuera casi siempre estaban vacías y no sabía todo lo que escondía el interior, por lo que tarde bastante en decidirme. Siempre que he ido ha sido con el menú mediodía (11€) y siempre que tengo ocasión y estoy por la zona voy a comer allí. El tipo de gente y teniendo en cuenta que voy a mediodías, es de oficinas de unos 30-40 años. El comedor queda bastante escondido y además no tiene luz natural, no obstante comer allí merece la pena.

The restaurant is a relatively new (2009). From the outside it does not get your attention and remains relatively hidden for anyone that goes by. Before I knew this restaurant I thought it was always empty because the 2 tables visible from the outside are almost always empty and I did not know all the inside that hides; so it take a while before I came in. I've always gone in the lunch menu (11 €) and whenever I have time and I'm in the area I ate there. The kind of people is mainly office workers about 30-40 years. The dining room is pretty hidden and has no natural light, however it is worth eating there.

EL SERVICIO / SERVICE

El servicio es muy eficiente y cordial, el trato con el cliente es bueno. Las sugerencias y recomendaciones del personal siempre son útiles a la hora de escoger. Hay que tener en cuenta que si vas muy tarde (pasadas las 15h) puede que alguno de los platos del menú no estén, entonces te ofrecerán otra alternativa para que puedas escoger entre 4 primeros y 4 segundos. Normalmente un primero y un segundo llevan suplemento (ya está indicado en la carta).

The service is very efficient and friendly and the treat with costumers is good. The suggestions and recommendations of the staff are always helpful when choosing. Keep in mind that if you go very late (after 15h) it may be that any of the menu dishes are not avaiable, then they offer you another alternative for you to choose from 4 starters and 4 seconds. Usually a first and a second have supplement (as indicates the menu).

EL MENÚ/MENU

Las presentaciones de los platos son bastante buenas, teniendo en cuenta que son platos de menú y por lo tanto son rápidos y “pre-cocinados” para mayor agilidad. Para empezar pedimos salmorejo. Plato típico del sur de España, pero que aquí les queda muy bueno.

The presentations of the dishes are quite good, considering that are menu dishes and therefore are fast and "pre-cooked" for more agility. For starters we ordered salmorejo. Typical dish of southern Spain, but it tastes very good here.

SALMOREJO CON JAMÓN

También pedimos lasaña de verduras con salsa de setas, tenía un sabor exquisito.

We also ordered vegetable lasagna with mushroom sauce, it was exquisite.

LASAÑA DE VERDURAS

Como ya he comentado siempre hay 4 primeros y 4 segundos, yo solo enseño 2 de cada que son los que pedimos. De segundo bacalao y filete rebozado. El bacalao, con una muy buena presentación, era igual de buena.

As I mentioned there is always 4 starters and 4 seconds to choose from, I only show 2 of each, the ones we ordered. We also ordered moussaka and filet. The cod, with a good presentation, was just as good as other dishes.

BACALAO

El filete rebozado, en su punto, no tiene mucho truco ni un gran sabor. En este caso acompañado de patata al horno, un acompañamiento muy común en los segundos.

The breaded steak doesn’t stand for great taste. In this case accompanied by baked potato, common accompaniment in the second dishes.

FILETE REBOZADO

Para terminar pedimos postres, el yogur y la fruta son dos recursos muy utilizados aquí, como las tartas, aunque estas son compradas y no caseras. El yogur siempre viene acompañado de una mermelada, en éste caso de fresa.

Finally  we ordered desserts, yogurt and fruit are two widely used resources here, such as pies, though these are bought and not homemade. Yogurt always comes with a jam, strawberry in this case.

El precio final y al ser menú está definido desde el principio (cafés y suplementos excluidos).  Es un buen restaurante para ir de menú (no tengo conocimiento de carta) aunque puedo intuir que también es una muy buena opción.

The final price of the menu is defined from the beginning (cafes and supplements excluded). It's a good restaurant to go to menu .

Restaurante Griego bastante nuevo muy bien situado, en la calle Verdi. Aunque su tarjeta dice que tiene página web: www.restaurantecreta.com yo no la encuentro por ningún sitio. Su cocina mediterránea, evidentemente griega. Es el típico restaurante para ir con amigos, de entre 30-40 años o con pareja. La decoración aunque blanca y azul (colores típicamente helenos) deja mucho que desear, es bastante simple y minimalista. El ambiente es relajado.

Fairly new Greek restaurant  located on Carrer Verdi. Although their card says that they have website: www.restaurantecreta.com I can not find it anywhere. They offer Mediterranean cuisine, Greek of course. It is a typical restaurant to go with friends, aged 30-40 or with your couple. The decoration although is white and blue (typically Hellenes colors), is quite simple and minimalist. The atmosphere is relaxed.

EL SERVICIO / SERVICE

Desde fuera, te invitan a pasar invitándote a un té al finalizar la cena (por lo menos el día que fui yo). Los camareros son bastante eficientes y rápidos, tanto para llevarte a la mesa cómo para tomar nota y servir los platos.  El servicio es muy cordial y amigable.

We were invited to tea at the end of dinner if we ate there (at least that day). The waiters are very efficient and fast, taking notes and serving dishes. The service is very cordial and friendly.

EL MENÚ/MENU

Para empezar pedimos Tiropita, que es un hojaldre relleno de una variedad de quesos griegos. Bastante bueno si te gustan los quesos.

For starters we ordered TIROPITA, which is a pastry filled with a variety of Greek cheeses. Pretty good if you like cheese.

TIROPITA

De primero pedimos cous cous con verduras, el sabor era bastante salado y con mucha canela, y cuando lo pedimos creíamos que nos traerían las verduras cortadas pequeñas y todo mezclado pero nos encontramos con esto.

We ordered couscous with vegetables, the flavor was quite salty and with cinnamon when we ordered it, we thought they would bring us a small cut vegetables mixed together,  they served this.

COUS COUS CON VERDURAS

Para poder probar más cosas, cuando voy a restaurantes me gusta pedir platos que contengan un poco de muchas cosas diferentes. En este caso había Humus, Tzatziki, Piperisalata, melitzanosalata, dolmades y un falafel. Algunos platos muy conocidos como el Humus y falafel por otras regiones.

I like to order dishes with many different things when I try a new restaurant. In this case we had Humus, Tzatziki, Piperisalata, melitzanosalata, dolmades and a falafel. Some well-known dishes such as Hummus and falafel for other regions.

PIKILIA

Para acompañar no podía faltar el pan de pita. Sabor bastante suave y agradable.

To accompany we had a pita bread. Soft and pleasant flavour.

PAN DE PITA

Para terminar con algo de carne nos trajeron unas broquetas de carne de ternera con verduras. El sabor de la carne era bastante bueno, condimentado y jugoso. También había la opción de cordero, creo que mucho más típicas.

We ordered beef skewers with vegetables.  The flavor of the meat was pretty good, seasoned and juicy. There was also the option of lamb, I think much more typical of Greek culture.

SOUVLAKI DE TERNERA

De postre, y como no podía ser de otra forma, había baklavas y yogur griego con mermelada de fresa. Los baklavas eran muy crujientes y melosos, el yogur muy suave.

For desserts, we had baklava and Greek yogurt with strawberry jam. The baklavas were crisp and mellow, the yogurt was good.

Y como nos habían prometido al entrar, nos invitaron a un té con menta ideal para bajar todo.

And as they promised before entering, we were invited to a great mint tea.

TÉ CON MENTA

El precio final está bastante bien. Te puede salir la cena por menos de 20€ (postre y bebida incluidos). Es un restaurante griego como tantos en barcelona, a mi parecer no destaca en nada (excepto ubicación en la calle Verdi), un sitio ideal para ir con la familia y amigos.

The final price is pretty good. You can eat  dinner for less than 20 € (dessert and drinks included). It's a Greek restaurant like many in barcelona, in my opinion does not stand on anything (except Verdi Street location), an ideal place to go with family and friends.
